This little ditty protects a lens like the secret service protects the president. It's a chunk of aluminum, not a piece of plastic. Screw it on and don't worry about your lens. I dropped my lens off a 2nd story window and it shattered, but this lens cap was perfectly fine. The only downside is it take a while to screw it on, but you're just not going to get that kind of protection from a plastic clip on cap.
